About the Role

They are hiring an Applied AI Engineer who will focus on building and scaling real-world AI applications. This role blends 60–75% strong software engineering with 30–40% practical AI/ML expertise, with an emphasis on deploying production systems—not research.

You’ll work across multiple product lines (revenue cycle, hospital operations, command center intelligence), partnering closely with engineering, product, and platform teams to ship AI applications that deliver measurable outcomes for health systems.

What You’ll Do

AI Application Development

• Build agentic workflows, automation pipelines, and real-time AI features.
• Reuse ~80% of existing platform components while extending them with new AI capabilities.
• Apply traditional ML (predictive modeling, time-series forecasting) to hospital operations and scheduling use cases.

Software Engineering & Integrations

• Build and maintain production-ready services, REST APIs, and microservices.
• Deploy and monitor applications in cloud-native environments (GCP preferred).
• Work closely with platform engineers on distributed systems, data flows, and workflow infrastructure.

Product & Collaboration

• Ship production solutions in days/weeks, not months — with a strong bias toward speed and scrappiness.
• Partner with front-end engineers on real-time dashboards and operational tools.
• Contribute to scaling a workflow ecosystem that will support 100+ applied AI workflows.

LLM & Model Integration

• Integrate models such as OpenAI, Anthropic, and Mistral into production environments.
• Tune AI systems through data format design, monitoring, evals, and iterative improvement.

What We’re Looking For

Required

• 3–10 years of software engineering experience (strong Python required).
• Experience deploying AI-powered applications in production (LLMs, forecasting, chatbots, or similar).
• Solid fundamentals in Kubernetes, distributed systems, APIs, and microservices.
• Familiarity with Python ML libraries (Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn) and deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow or PyTorch).
• Ability to apply ML pragmatically in production environments.
• Experience shipping production software at real scale.
• Must be located in the Bay Area (hybrid onsite requirement).

• Background starting in software engineering and expanding into ML or applied AI.

Compensation

• Base salary: $175,000–$240,000+ depending on level (P2–P4) and experience.
